"Know Your Limitations" -- Old Wisdom, But A Path to Underachievement. From the very beginnings of our careers as Human Beings, family members, students and employees we are always told, especially by conservative, thoughtful persons in positions of authority, "Know your limitations." This is most assuredly a negative perspective from which to engage in self-discovery. We spend our time learning about what we cannot, or should not do, instead of focusing our efforts and energies on finding our natural skills, interests, passions and talents. Isn't it time we focused our thoughts, attentions and efforts on creating lives that incorporated these positive elements and potentialities within ourselves than on spending all of our time nailing ourselves into coffin-shaped boxes of perceived inadequacies and insufficiencies? I think so. Let us mine for gold instead of avoiding sand and mud.
