Dear Friends:
Words delivered minimally, in staccato fashion, tend to 1) make a greater impact, and to 2) be perceived as wisdom. Rightly or wrongly, this is a typical human perception. Some examples of rapid-fire wisdom follow. Think about this: the few the words you use to express an important idea, the more weight each word carries:
1. Don't hesitate.
2. Stand down!
3. Am I clear?
4. Do this...
5. Move! Move! Move!
In Command Therapy (an obscure type of hypnotherapeutic training and conditioning), the short bursts of words are used to pierce the armor of the subconscious rather than lenghty, metaphorical seduction and distraction (i.e. an Ericksonian approach to hypnosis). Each approach works, but in a different way, and for different specific purposes. A mastery of both approaches makes you a very powerful and persuasive speaker, and easily assumed to be a leader when in a crowd of other individuals.
This is a discussion worth continuing. We will.
